Mayor Rosamilia includes raises for appointees in budget

Mayor Lou Rosamilia released his
first budget Monday and in it he included raises for some of his top appointees.
I’ll do a more in depth piece on
the budget that raises taxes just 2 percent for Thursday, and Danielle Sanzone
will a story on it tomorrow but for right now the raises definitely jump out considering
the recipients only been in the respective jobs for about nine months.
They are:
-Deputy Mayor Pete Ryan would see
his salary go from $80,342 to $85,000.
-Commissioner of the Planning
Department Bill Dunne would see his salary go from $72,450 to $77,000.

Information Mike Fraser would see go from $46,075 to $47,300.

Carley isn’t getting a raise but there wasn’t one last year so that salary
jumped from $0 to $42,474.
The mayor’s salary would stay the
same at $95,000.
As I said, the raises aren’t all
that astronomical but in today’s day and age raises to appointed public
employees typically cause taxpayers to get their back up.

Great job Mayor....and if you penalize those employees that don't live in Troy and watch the employees that travel about or play games at their desk all day and get rid of them, we could maybe stay the same next year....Those having problems with this statement must be those taking advantage...The rest of us want something done!!!! Fair is Fair.
I'm assuming Deputy Mayor Ryan would not accept the $5000 raise.....after all when he ran for County Legislature it was all about the Republicans taking a $5000 raise. I assume he still feels strongly about elected and appointed officials receiving unwarranted raises!
I know Bill Dunne is against these raises he voiced his opinions very clearly and very strongly four years ago!
I want to see Zalewski vote for this. Remember when he said city staff was overpaid and the mayor shouldn't have a deputy mayor or a press person? Piggies in the trough.

As a Democrat who supported Mayor Lou and Pete..I am disgusted. Absolute clowns with their hands out. Year #1 and already raising taxes and shelling out our money to your cronies. Enjoy your only term Lou.
Come on folks. When Mayor Lou hired these folks, these are the salaries that were agreed upon. Did you forget about the uproar last year over the newly appointed individuals recieving a pay higher than what had been budgeted for? Mayor Lou is keeping his word and including the higher rates of pay in this year's budget. Both Mr. Dunne & Deputy Mayor Peter Ryan had to "re-pay" the city the over payments that had been made to them.
As I recall, Mayor Lou hired Mr. Dunne and Mr. Ryan for these positions at the rate that is in this year's budget. There was quite an uproar when it was discovered that each man was being paid hiring than what had been budgeted for those positions in the 2012 budget (passed before he took office). Both men (please correct if I'm incorrect) had to repay the city the overpayments that were made to them. Mayor Lou indicated that he would include the increases in the 2013 budget. He has done so, so what's the issue? He agreed to pay these individuals the rates he is now including in the budget. I don't see this as a pay raise.
Cassidy is going to lose over 80k for getting 1300.00 for 1 year. Next time leave your eyes alone and have your hair dyed blond because this is political suicide! Now I hope she doesn't do something really dumb like having her own office in the new city hall. Remember "the greedy bunch" Mrs Cassidy? Your picture will be on top.

Come on Peggy, stop kissin' up and apologizing for them. They bitch that they can't affort the city hall rent but they can dish out raises. They couldn't fund DEFY camp but they got cash for raises. They cut funding to youth programs and the Boys and Girls Club, but they have money for raises. Lou is an accountant for cryin' out loud and he handed out raises that weren't in the budget. Can't he read a budget? He sure couldn't come up with a balanced one for next year. This one is built on hopes and dreams of unicorns, feral cats and compost piles. Oh that right they're democrats, they can do no wrong.
Seriously people, get your eyes on the ball. Harry gave HIMSELF a raise that nearly equals the amount mentioned here. City budgets get crippled by the sweetheart deals unions have carved out in pensions and benefit costs. Also, will someone please explain to me what the City Council does to deserve full health care benefits? Two meetings a month? What a waste.
Harris has zero tax increase through most his term. Ran the city without Deputy Mayor for long time. This was ok to me.

How can people talk about this to change budgets? Not fair to do this without discuss with people that pay it.
What this new governemt can do so great in one year? I work 5 years for company to never expect raise. If they can lower the tax, maybe raise is good thing for incintive like a bonus. If they no lower the tax, they should cut the salary, like in the private business. They play with our money, because it dont cost them anything.

I would hope that the city of Troy will do a back ground on the good Rev Willey before he ask for money. It's really quite interesting and can be done on line. He has a very checkered past. The city should also see his books as well. There are better and more transparent organization in Troy that need and quite frankly deserve the money's first. They have been around for a long time and do a helluva lot more than this carnival barker. Some show he put on last night.

I think the raises are tied to the Pirro/Pecheneck lawsuit. If I recall the story, they should have got a raise each year based on some policy for non-union folks.

This has to stop...when Pete was on the city council he made $15,000. He said he was getting out of politics to spend more time with his family. One week later he had spent enough time with his family and announced he was running for the county legislature but was against the $5000 raise Kelleher and the GOP had voted themselves. Pete got elected and kept the raise. He was making $25,000. Now he has only made $80,000 this year from the taxpayers, heck do you really expect Pete Ryan to support a family on $80,000.
Come on, Mayor Lou is getting $80,000 from the taxpayers in retirement and another $95,000 as Mayor. Thats $175,000 a year. How do you think that mankes Pete feel!

Dunebuggy boy Cox is a fugitive on the lam from Florida and is a one man freak show second only to his facebook friend Cooper. Been a long while since I last commented on this blog. Not much has changed in Troy apparently. Just wanted to add a quick note..I paid nearly $5000 per year in combined school and city property taxes in Troy along with approximately $600 for water and sewer. Here in South Carolina I pay a combined total of $615 per year for school and property taxes with an additional $600 for trash, water and sewer per year. $615 for a house nearly three times the value of my house in Troy. Folks, it's not just here in SC either. Many states have similar rates. Thought I would pass this info on. Oh and btw, it's 81 and sunny.......

It's great to see that 3years is the turn around time from accusations to conviction ! Pedro Espada plead guilty today and Eddy Mac goes to trial on Nov 13th I think it will be about 3years this September that Eddy was accused of his crime much like Padro was accussed 3 years ago. Another conviction will come in November. Then Clem and the boys will be next. Justice for all!

Heard on the street the luck of Kathleen Cassidy just keeps getting better. Remember she ran against the GOP calling them the greedy bunch, well she's getting a raise at her 2nd taxpayer funded job at city hall....but it gets better. She recently interviewed at the Troy school district for the position of personnel director, just one small problem you need a masters degree that Ms Cassidy does not have.
Talk about luck.....the civil service commission just eliminated the Masters requirement........boy is she lucky!

I received my Pavlic mailer today, as he must be going after the Working Family Party vote. I noticed in his endorsements that C- Kevin McGrath was the only local elected Democrat not to endorse him. Has Kevin flipped to Harry Tutunjian's camp? I recognized Pavlics name from all of his signs on public property all over the city. The former Deputy Mayor used to have them removed -- thank God. Why isn't Pete Ryan doing the same? I'm surprised Pavlics signs aren't allowed in the sand traps at Frear.

There aren't "generational" dependencies on government support down here as there is in the blue north. Folks down here still believe in hard work and sacrifice offers the best way to self sufficiency and success not the government. What one doesn't fathom is the powers of prince Hightop so beware as Hightop took down sir Robert Russell reeves about a year back but alas sit revs fought back and one sending Hightop Tia corner dungeon as he watches dr death takeover floor five in anemic battle against Zuul who will retreat tithe troy school district and watch over personnel with her new peepers but alas the little man with the built in sweater will have his day a he the patriarch of the real McGraths will one day make his son sheriff of Nottingham so he can stop pretending on sir lance a lots code department as sir lance a lot runs his department with guild and Braun unlike prince Hightop or king cleft before that. Will dr death take Hightop from his corner dungeon and replace sir lance alot so he can take long naps or will dr death banish Zuul to the school or will he force McGrath to buy his own beer and limit his power leaving his son at the mercy of prince Hightop. What does putter Pete or Lou the great want. Perhaps sit chamberlain can weigh in with the decisions to be made. Hark sir Reeves can do it as troy is his and all the dams and bridges as well. Once Hightop will be forever in his corner dungeon and sir lance a lot will reign while dr death will take over for sir reeves apprentice as they are te same size
Lord Treeman Bob mastered the art of backpedaling as he spots off lunatic ramblings concocted by the voter fraud chef and his sous chef towel boy and roomate Thomas.
